Contemplated to be the most elaborate set of instructions, these compilations of knowledge have inspired an era. It was considered that a generalized text could cater to the need for information in the forming years of students. Textbooks remained vanguard in classroom instructions and content until the technology kicked in, and teachers started realizing the shortcomings with the generalized text for students.
The over-reliance on textbook materials created crammers instead of creative thinkers. Now is the high time for teachers to revisit their classroom strategy to keep pace with the rapidly changing world.
Textbooks are undoubtedly a standard set of information that must be consulted to an extent. Still, the incorporation of tech-accelerated media content in classrooms is the cry of this nascent decade.

Over-reliance on the text by teachers
Teachers tend to rely on the content that the textbook offers them. This strategy can eliminate innovation in the classroom. It becomes easier for them to deliver the text’s content rather than go through extra efforts to skimming the relevant information from the internet. It is ignorance of the criminal level, which yield students with intellectual deficiencies. The horizon of science and technology changes its hue each passing day; such is the requirement of upgrading the information in the classroom. A Tes-YouGov survey in late 2017 indicated that by 2020 less than one in ten teachers are likely to use textbooks in their lessons.

Textbooks are expensive
The cost of printing is high and is an added burden on the parents to buy textbooks with questionable quality for their children. Economic factors are a major impediment in the future use of textbooks. Devices like kindle, tablets, and iPads relieve students from carrying the book’s backbreaking stress.
Textbooks are produced from paper, and paper comes from trees, so the environmental repercussions are also there that needs to be considered. Although many publishers use recycled paper, the process of recycling is itself an environment denting process. So, a move away from paper-based products is a healthy practice to rescue our forests.
The advocacy for the use of textbooks stems from the factor that student learns more from the paper and the physical feel of the book inspire learning. Another objection to the use of eBooks is that students are distracted when they attempt to read from the digital resources as they scroll through the content and skip prime information. Students are prone to distracting notifications and strain their eyes during long reads, which can negatively impact their well-being.
